Finished watching the New Huang Zhe Gege.

I LOVED IT!
I was surprised too, actually. I loved the original one so much.
Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen the old one in a really long time, but I seriously think that I enjoyed this version more. I don’t know how many times I caught myself crying with the characters.
My favorite casting was the Empress Dowager. Played perfectly by the wonderful Liu Xue Hue. Yet, another Qiong Yao role added to her resume. I just love her.

Obviously, just my opinion. I know a lot of people out there are hardcore fans of the original, but seriously. Give this one a chance. I’m glad I did.

But one photo, by Bangladeshi photographer Taslima Akhter, has emerged as the most heart wrenching, capturing an entire country’s grief in a single image. “
Various works by Tae (たえ)
Tae is a Japanese artist who often paints portraits of women in her works. Her minimal use of color as well as the movement of shapes and brushstrokes across the portraits creates a clean, seemingly weightless space within which her characters exist.
